Diva Queen of the House

Meet Sapphire Aurora, a truly regal Maine Coon cat who has captured not only my heart but the entire household with her charm, personality, and undeniable presence. Sapphire is no ordinary cat; she's the perfect blend of strength, independence, and love. As one half of the dynamic duo alongside her twin brother Phoenix and half-brother Pickle, Sapphire’s beauty and character make her a standout in the world of Maine Coons.

The Origins of the Name

Sapphire's full name, Sapphire Aurora, is as dazzling as she is. Her first name, Sapphire, was chosen because of her rich red or ginger coat, reminiscent of the precious gemstone. To me, the sapphire gem represents durability, strength, and resilience—qualities that Sapphire herself possesses in abundance. She is tough, quick, and unyielding, which makes her an incredibly fascinating cat to have around.

Her middle name, Aurora, draws inspiration from the Northern Lights, a breathtaking natural phenomenon that represents beauty and wonder. Why Aurora? Well, that’s a story for another time, but trust me, it fits her vibrantly!

Unique Personality

From the moment I brought Sapphire home in July 2023, I could tell she was no ordinary kitten. She came into my life alongside her twin brother Phoenix, and together, they’ve been an inseparable pair ever since. However, unlike Phoenix, who is a bit more reserved and timid, Sapphire has always had a dominant streak.

She is a queen-like diva in every sense of the word. Whether she's running at lightning speed or jumping to incredible heights, Sapphire's energy is a force to be reckoned with. She’s got the personality of someone who knows she’s in charge and makes sure everyone else does too.

Sapphire’s Dynamic with the Household

Sapphire might be a bit of a bully when it comes to my oldest domestic cat, Sebastian. She’s got a powerful presence, and she isn’t afraid to remind Sebastian that she’s the boss. But she’s also got a loving side, particularly towards her siblings. Though initially standoffish, Sapphire warms up to newcomers in the house. She hisses and makes her dominance clear at first, but after a week or two, she softens, turning into the most affectionate and caring feline. She’ll kiss and groom her brothers and sisters, though her affection might eventually be interrupted by her playful nipping, as she can’t help herself!

But the ultimate proof of Sapphire’s affection is her love for me. Sapphire is undoubtedly a mama's girl. She adores cuddling with me on the bed, showing just how much she values her role as my queen. No matter where I am in the house, Sapphire follows, making sure that she’s always within arm’s reach, claiming me as her own.

Sapphire’s Bond with Jovie

Though Sapphire is fiercely independent, there is one cat in the house who holds a special place in her heart: Jovie, one of my domestic cats. When Jovie comes for cuddles, Sapphire can’t help but move in closer, demanding her own share of attention. She loves getting fussed over, whether it’s from me or from the other boys in the house. Her affectionate side shines through whenever she’s around Jovie, and it’s clear that they share a bond that goes beyond just being housemates.

The Great Escape Artist

Sapphire is no stranger to clever antics. When it comes time for meal prep, I feed her and her siblings in a room with a gate. The gate is meant to keep them contained, but not for long. Sapphire, ever the curious explorer, quickly figured out how to escape, darting down the stairs to join my older domestic cats for their meals. She’s not just a queen in attitude, but also in appetite!

Her food of choice? Chicken slices, especially the ones from Tesco. She loves them! While she has her designated Maine Coon food, Sapphire doesn’t mind indulging in Whiskas and Sheba with the older cats. It’s clear she’s got quite the appetite, though she’s not quite as big as her younger sister Gilberté, who weighs in at a solid 6.5 kg. Still, Sapphire holds her own in the food department, and she eats like a queen.

She's A Queen

Sapphire Aurora is more than just a cat; she’s a presence, a force of nature in her own right. Her combination of strength, curiosity, and affection makes her a beloved member of the household. From her lightning-fast jumps to her cuddles on the bed, she’s always there, reminding us all that she’s in charge and that we’re lucky to have her.

Whether she's ruling the household with her fierce, diva-like personality or showing her softer side with her siblings and me, Sapphire is a one-of-a-kind Maine Coon who makes life that much more interesting and full of love. She’s not just a pet—she’s a queen, and we’re all just here to serve her.
